blurring the boundaries

as part of my assessment I’ve been exploring some of the projection mapping art works by Craig Walsh. The title name is a clear indication that he is questioning the validity of some everyday occurrences or settings. By juxtaposing the overcrowded marine creatures in a setting which is clearly out of context and scale, he is blurring boundaries relating to audiences’ interaction artspace. It’s a little disconcerting and conjures up all sorts of confronting issues about inhumane treatment of the world’s marine life. After this installation he’s gone on to create lots more that are similar in concept. See what message you think is being portrayed. Is it a gallery? No? Yes? No? Is it real? Well it is, but it’s not, right?

 Blurring the Boundaries, Craig Walsh.
